Finally.

You've focused your ideas, settled on your products and services, and refined your brand.

Now you're trying to write about it for your website, and things aren't going so well.

Your words come out sounding dry, awkward, generic, or vague.

Visitors to your site can't even tell what you offer.

You've been thinking of hiring a copywriter.

But the punchy, cutesy, and snarky styles you've seen turn you off.

You don't want your copy to be littered with the F-bomb or to call your client "Sweetness."

You want your website to be authentic and to really sound like you.

Plus, you don't have thousands of dollars to invest in done-for-you copy at this stage in the game.

You'd rather write your own copy, but you've already got a lot on your plate.

Figuring out how to communicate what you do in a way that gets you noticed turns out to be harder than it looks.

You're not a bad writer.

You just don't know WHAT to write, or how and where to organize information so that your potential customers feel like you're speaking straight to them.

You may be an expert at what you do, but a knack for language and a head for strategy aren't necessarily your biggest strengths (yet...).

Good news: they're mine.

So you can do it yourself.  But you don't have to do it alone.

I created Copy That  for people like you who want to share your story in a way that feels authentic to you.

We'll work collaboratively to craft compelling copy, so you can get the word out with clarity, confidence, authority and authenticity. Together, we'll create professional, polished copy you're proud of, so you can finally get that business of yours up and running already. And it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Ready?

This is for you if:

  • You want a website that is clear, compelling, and professional.

  • You want copy that's persuasive, but not "sales-y."

  • You want to be concise and articulate, but still feel and sound like you.

  • You've tried to write your copy yourself, but for any number of reasons, you're struggling, and DIYing it is just not working for you, but you don't have the budget for done-for-you copywriting.

The very best part?

You'll walk away with more than copy that establishes you as an authority, feels true to who you are, and resonates with the people you most want to reach. You'll be equipped with tools, templates, and tips that will help you write copy and content with confidence throughout the life of your business.

When we're done, you'll have a site you're proud to show off to the world.

Here's how it works*:

  • You start by heading on over to my calendar to schedule a free, no-obligation consultation just to make sure you have a chance to ask me all your questions before you commit.
  • Next, if you decide to work with me, you'll decide which page you want to collaborate on. You can choose from home page, about page, services page, or sales page. Or, you can choose all 4.
  • To get started, I’ll send you:
    • a worksheet and some questions to help you organize your ideas and to help me learn about your business.
    • a template that gives you the exact steps for writing your copy.
    • a copywriting style guide with some tricks of the trade that will help you make sure your copy really sparkles.
  • Then we'll set your due-date on my calendar and you'll get to work!
  • When you're due-date rolls around, you'll send your writing to me for editing. I guarantee to get it back to you within 5 business days. (If we're doing all 4, you'll send them back in a bundle, and turnaround time will be 10 business days).

*In order for you to get the most value out of Copy That, you need a clear brand identity and solid business foundations. Copy That is only available to people who have already gone through The Repast Process or who have established brand guidelines, subject to my approval.

Emily helped me identify and clearly communicate the most important aspects of doing what I love.

"I hired Emily to help me draft the seemingly disparate parts of my personal and professional life into a cohesive narrative for my website. Emily is a very talented big picture thinker. She helped me identify and clearly communicate the most important components of doing what I love."

    FAQ

    Who do you work with?

I work with purpose-driven creatives doing heritage, culture, or food-focused: chefs and caterers, nutritionists and health coaches, restaurateurs, writers, educators, activists, artists, musicians, and more. Some of my clients are small startups and solo-entrepreneurs who have recently gotten started and need some help determining their direction, while some are seasoned business owners who feel unhappy, unfocused, or frustrated with their current brand or business trajectory and want to make a pivot or undertake a rebrand.

If I'm doing this myself, why isn't it cheaper?

This isn't a done-for-you service. It's a support-system, an education, and the kick-in-the-pants and accountability you need to get going and get to work.

I've put a lot of thought into developing this service with templates and knowledge you'll be able to use over and over. Not only will you have copy to get started with, but you'll be learning how to write copy for sales pages, emails, social media, blogs, etc. from here on in.

My goal is not only to get you started with copy that clearly communicates what you do but to equip you with the tools you'll need to run your business over the long haul. That way, you won't have to depend on copywriters to help you communicate in the future.

What about my web design and visual brand. Isn't that important too?

It is important, but the most beautiful website in the world won't get you more clients if people can't understand what you do. The story you tell about your business and the words you use to connect with your target client are (sorry web designers) more important.

What if I change things about my business or brand and all the work I do with you no longer applies?

Good news. Even if you do find you need to change your brand, you'll be equipped to do so. You'll have the templates and cheatsheets we used together, so you can use them again and again throughout your life as a business-owner. Plus, if you really get stuck, you can cash in on your bonus editing session anytime within a year from our original work.
